Security Feature launched - Gold Bar Integrity Update

Security Feature specifications form part of the Gold Bar Integrity (GBI) initiative to enhance the integrity of the physical gold market. This initiative will ensure that gold bars entering the market are genuine articles with known provenance.

The Security Feature will work in conjunction with a database solution currently under development.

Development

The specifications were developed in conjunction with the London vaults, Good Delivery refiners and other industry experts.

Publication

The specifications have now been launched and are available on the MCBIH website. Vendors of Security Features and the associated technology as well as users of existing Security Features will now be able to benchmark their particular solution.

Application Process

MCBIH is currently developing the Application Process for recognising Security Features that meet the specifications. It should be noted that the Specifications are the minimum requirements that must be met.
